Halima Hoy is crowned Miss Universe Belize 2024

The National Queen in Belize is elected as Halima Hoy as new Miss Universe Belize 2024 to represent her country at the 73rd Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico

The Miss Universe Belize 2024 pageant was broadcasted LIVE on Saturday, April 13 starting at 8pm on TN Channel 10 and The Streaming at NEXGEN TV app which is famous for local Belizean TV Shows on the go. Halima Hoy became Miss Universe Belize 2024 after winning against 8 Contestants.

The other Top 3 Contestants are the 1st Runner-up Maryam Abdul-Qawiyy @maryam.abdulqawiyy and the 2nd Runner-up Myra Sibrian @susie_sibrian.

Hoy also becamae Miss Universe Skin Care Cosmetics Challenge Winner while Miss Photogenic goes to Shaenna Gilharry.

The new queen Halima Hoy, 29, is a Belizean, born and raised in Port Loyola, Belize City. Hoy is married to Arthur Hoy Jr. and the Kinesiology-Allied Health student studied at Houston Christian University in Texas. She works as NASM Certified Personal Trainer and  and a certified pre & post natal fitness coach.

Through her advocacy, Health and Fitness, Halima hopes to provide knowledge and aid to Belizeans in less fortunate situations, about the physiological issues that are common in these communities such as hypertension, heart diseases, Alzheimer’s and diabetes. As a part of her community outreach efforts, Halima is a proud sponsor of a 2 year old boy in Bangladesh providing him with medical and physical resources. Halima also donates school supplies to Grace Primary School and St. John’s Vianney Primary School . She also donates toys to Dorothy Menzies Childcare Center.

Contestant's Statement: Hoy has said a day before the final "I have NEVER taken on something as important as this in my entire life. Allow me to be transparent for a moment. I have been praying with tears in my eyes. I am not only asking the Father to bless me with this title, but to keep my heart pure. I WANT this crown, I mean, I REALLY want this crown! But, I also want my intentions to be genuine. If I get an opportunity to wear the heavy orchid crown, I will sincerely stand for every single thing I said I would." She further added "I am applying for my dream job. With that said, I understand that my performance at this job is not only a reflection of me, but a reflection of my country. I LOVE YOU Belize."

The 1st Runner-up Maryam Abdul-Qawiyy, 38, holds a master’s degree in Fine Arts from Chatham University. She’s a multimedia entrepreneur, artist, Host, TV anchor, yoga instructor and renaissance woman. As an actress, she’s a featured dancer in Spike Lee’s Oscar winning Blackkklansman. She has written and directed six original stage plays which debuted at the Belize Women in Arts showcases, the International Pittsburgh Black Arts Festival, and in Bangalore, India in 2019.

As a certified yoga instructor, Abdul-Qawiyy taught yoga at the Belize Central Prison and Youth Hostel. She also gives back to the community as an ambassador for the Concerned Belizean Women, a nonprofit that holds fundraisers to assist disenfranchised women and children. Maryam is no stranger to pageants, in 2012 she was Queen of the Jewel’s first runner up and in 2014, she was crowned Miss Afrikan Queen. She advocates for Mental Health and managing mental wellness with mindfulness techniques.

The 2nd Runner-up Myra Sibrian, 28, a Belizean who resides in the Capital City of Belmopan. No stranger to pageantry, Myra has several crowns under her belt. She was previously Miss Las Flores, Queen of the Bay Belmopan and later on won the National Queen of the Bay pageant. Throughout her numerous reigns, Myra has been spearheading projects to fundraise for essential groceries and collaborating with medical centers to offer complimentary health checkups to elderly individuals and families. She is an entrepreneur and operates 3 businesses as her main source of income, a nail salon, online clothing boutique, and her social media marketing/influencer business. Witnessing her grandmother’s transformation from a remarkably independent woman to someone who now relies on others for her overall well-being due to loss of vision, motivated Myra and inspired her to advocate for the well-being of the elderly.
